Peru are available for all ages and ability levels ranging from scenic float trips for one or two days on the Urubamba river suitable for entire families to adrenaling pumping white water rapids on the Apurimac river or an expeditionary journey on one of the Headwaters of the Amazon the Tambopata Jungle river where we can have closed encounters with wild life and see no other human beings for a few days. The Apurimac river is considered one of the best and most exciting rivers in Cusco Peru, in the world for White Water River rafting because of it´s ideal conditions in terms of temperatures, rapids, water sandy beaches for the campsites, etc. Previous experience is not needed, but you must know how to swim.
We meet at 8.30 am. From Cusco we drive 4 hours through the Andes to the put-in at Huallpachaca bridge 2,000 mts. altitude. It will take us a couple hours to prepare all the equipment self-bailing rafts, oars, paddles, coolers, helmets, lifejackets, wet suits etc. you will be given a safety talk and drills into rafting technics. We will put emphasis in training all the participants, in how to get back into the raft, flipping the raft, swimming a rapid etc.
You will be floating for 2 hours more or less, doing class II and III rapids. Camp will be in a narrow gorge with impressive walls. Here the guides will prepare dinner.
After a healthy breakfast we start rafting around 9:00am. Today we will be in the water for about 6 hours, doing mostly class III and IV rapids , stopping for lunch and arriving to camp around 4:00pm , today we´ll have tea time and dinner and sleep on a sandy beach under the night sky of the southern hemisphere (B+L+D).
After a good breakfast we are going to be rafting through a couple of class V rapids. There are rapids with names such as “tooth ache”, “you first”, “last laugh”.. Again twice we will have to walk around a couple of rapids. After 3 to 4 hours of rafting we will arrive to the take out where we pack all the equipment and drive back to Cusco, arriving around 5:00 pm (B+L)
